LDRNY Long Island coordinator marks 25 years of ministry

God's blessing to Pr. Tom Taylor, Grace Lutheran Church, North Bellmore, and deputy coordinator of LDRNY for Long Island.  Pr. Taylor recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of his ordination.

Pr. Taylor celebrated 25 years in ministry with a special service at Grace, attended by LDRNY leader Bishop Stephen Bouman of the Metropolitan New York Synod.

Bishop Bouman said, "Pr. Tom Taylor has been a wonderful ambassador for the healing power of the Gospel in places of vulnerability and hurt since 9/11-- the fire houses, the families of the bereaved, those still living with post traumatic stress. He was worked with many partners, especially in Long Island, to help bring comfort and renewal to man."

Pr. Taylor was a chaplain at Ground Zero after the attack, and was subsequently asked to coordinate LDRNY's work on Long Island. He has been the LDRNY contact person for the Long Island Voluntary Agencies Active in Disaster and chair of the Spiritual Care Committee. He was also the LDRNY liaison to the Nassau County OEM, and a coordinator of the Nassau County Critical Incident Stress Management Team.

Last year, Pr. Taylor completed a master's degree in social work, and is assistant director for Faithful Response, an LDRNY partner.
