Compassionate care to those affected by 9/11
The events of 9/11 have affected us all in different ways. Faithful Response keeps with the Christian traditions of reaching out in the community to those in need, just as Jesus would. In many cases, faith-based programs are the only services still responding to 9/11.

Free mental health counseling services
Faithful Response provides free, compassionate mental health care and counseling to Long Island residents still struggling with the affects of 9/11 and related events, including the war on terror in Afghanistan and Iraq. A collaboration of Lutheran Disaster Response of New York and Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, Faithful Response is an innovative, faith-based mental health program designed to assist Long Island residents who continue to struggle with mental health, emotional or family issues related to 9/11. This program provides free, confidential counseling and support. Since 9/11, Lutheran Disaster Response New York and Catholic Charities have helped thousands of people, connecting them with specialized counseling services.

A Message from Faithful Response, for Hurricane Katrina personnel

Faithful Response would like to thank all those Emergency Service personnel and volunteers who not only worked tirelessly on September 11th and its aftermath are now being sent or have volunteered to go to the Gulf Coast to assist in the rescue and recovery efforts there. These individuals continue to give so much of themselves no matter what the personal risk or hardship it places on their families. They have witnessed both the destructive powers of man and nature. These two life-altering experiences can destroy an individual’s beliefs as well as their lives if they don’t feel they have some to turn to in their time of need. It is very difficult for a Police Officers, Firefighters or Emergency Medical Services to reach out. Remember, they are the people we look to for help when life seems to be at its darkest. They are our pillars of strength. What happens when they feel the need to reach out? Will we look at them as they have failed to meet the super human standards we place on them? The truth is they are human beings doing a job most of us would rather not. We as a society must continue to support these brave men and women and their families in their time of need.

Many of the sights, sounds and smells they are now experiencing may bring back the painful memories of September 11th. When these painful memories continue to re-occur we would like you to know that we are here to help.

Faithful Response is an innovative, faith-based mental health program designed to assist Long Island residents who continue to struggle with mental health, emotional or family issues related to 9/11. This program provides free, confidential counseling and support.

If you or someone you know are returning from the Gulf Coast and are still struggling with the effects of September 11th and related events please contact Michael Arcari, Director, at (516) 679-0080.
