More than 225 children attended New Ground Day Camps this summer at more than a dozen sites around the Synod and the District.

Around a theme of "Listen! God is Calling," children did all the regular summer camp activities, along with Bible-based programming.

New Ground was launched in the summer of 2002 in response to Sept. 11 as a way for children to heal and discuss their feelings in a safe environment about the terrorist attack.

Since then, hundreds of children have participated in the camp program, which is managed by Koinonia NYC, with funding by Lutheran Disaster Response of New York.
