Ground Zero

In July 2004, the cornerstone for the Freedom Tower was laid in this section.  This area used to be a parking garage.

Steel beams and other construction mark the new Tower's foundations in March '07

January '05: shows the hole made by Tower shrapnel

December '05: the beginnings of the painstaking demolition

August '06: some progress and heavy machinery

Deutsche Bank on Liberty Street, heavily damaged on 9/11, is currently undergoing deconstruction.

March '07:  upper floors are being deconstructed in sections

July '07:  several floors have been removed.  You can see how much shorter the building is in relation to others around it.

The new WTC 7 at the north end of the site, under construction at left (January '05) & nearly finished at center (December '05).  As of August '06, it's complete and seeking tenants.

A PATH train rumbles into the site from New Jersey

The temporary awning of the PATH station has been removed as of July 2007.  The entrance will be the staircases (at bottom left) during construction of the Calatrava wings-like Terminal.

Positioned at the southeast corner of WTC 7 is the Survivor Staircase,

an intact section of the Towers that may become a historic landmark.
